Do Not Track to be disabled in Project Spartan by default

OK, it's a better time to truly know what Do Not Track feature is after the major leakage happened in June two years ago. Do Not Track feature protects you from being tracked by the advertisers and surely, many of the web browsers have it. The controversial thing about it three years ago was that it was enabled by default in Internet Explorer 11 but that is not a sufficient part of the security protection. Speaking of security protection, many of the Android devices will be getting Android 5.0 upgrade which features improved hardware security as if there would be nothing special to blog about. But starting with later minor version, such kind of security protection will be optional just like Do Not Track is in other web browsers. You want to enable that sort of security protection, you can go ahead with it and the upcoming Spartan for Windows 10 will have Do Not Track optional.
To use Spartan however, you will need a recent build of Windows 10 that has this new web browser. Expect updates or something if you're using an earlier build.

Internet Explorer 12

OK, what do we have from there? The UI change that will look like Chrome itself and especially that the recent versions of Firefox surely look like it although in Firefox, you can change the UI layout back to the standard one like I already did by including the Menu Bar, Bookmarks Toolbar, etc. The top-left button of course is removed but the recent version of Chrome is like trying to copy the fuck out of Firefox UI by adding the menu on the top-right indicating your Google Account similar to the Account button in Windows Live Movie Maker.
In addition to the UI change, there will be extension support although we don't know if this is gonna be like Chrome and Firefox in 100% as there is like limited extension support for IE today.
You know what pisses us off? The lack of tab animation when opening and closing and there's no way to merge two windows into one by joining the lonely tab from one window into a window with multiple tabs in IE. Also, we don't know what kind of new engine IE 12 is going to have in order to be on par with its rivals.

Internet Explorer 11 Update

As part of the BUILD conference event, Microsoft is planning out Windows Phone 8.1, Internet Explorer 11 for Windows Phone 8.1 and the update to IE11 for existing multiple platforms. There will be similar features to Windows 8 for Windows Phone 8.1 such as the ability to pin websites to Start Screen, read better in Reading Mode as well as High Savings Mode which reduces the image quality and cuts data down by 60% to 80%.
The update of this web browser can detect the size of the webpage automatically but it seems that most of the websites do this on the web browsers on the computers. What about the ones for the tablet and mobile phones then? There's also the Enterprise Mode which is the Compatiblity Mode for displaying the pages in IE8 mode, just for the sake of compatibility and enterprises.

Internet Explorer 11 on Windows Phone 8.1

Sure are tons of Windows Phone 8.1 update news everywhere but the next conference Microsoft is going to be involved will be the BUILD conference where Windows Phone 8.1 will be demonstrated.
The Stop/Refresh button is at the address bar for Internet Explorer 11 Mobile similar to the Windows 8 and desktop versions of the browser and other web browsers you're using. Back then for Internet Explorer for Windows 7 users, there were both Refresh and Stop buttons on the same bar at the same time.
Also, there's the Reading Mode where you can read articles without so much distractions as well as other settings you can make adjustment from. There will be extended support of HTML5 and WebGL and other stuffs, etc.

Internet Explorer 10 for Windows Phone

It surely looks like Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Phone but IE9 Mobile to me may seem to be the prototype and therefore it’s not quite fast. So, with IE 10 for Windows Phone, it is truly fast and assumed to be less buggy. In Windows Phone 7.5, the interface seems to be changed a bit to make more room for the sites you care about so they’re no longer boxed-in by the browser frame. This same look is kept in Windows Phone 8, plus the popular features including the smart address bar, tabbed browsing and pinned sites to name a few that are retained.

It is obvious that the design may be sharing the Windows 8 counterpart of Internet Explorer browser as both Windows Phone and Windows 8 versions of IE 10 are built on the same engine and offer improved handling of key web technologies and standard, including new support for touch-enabled sites.

Like Windows 8 itself, there are more ways to share on Windows Phone. If you have an Xbox 360 console with the new dashboard, you can use the latest ways to share. Just choose the Xbox option from IE 10’s Share menu to launch the Xbox SmartGlass app on your Windows Phone and send the website you were looking at to your TV. Another feature is the Card Tap like Ad-Hoc way in which you can tap your Windows Phone on another one provided that it supports the NFC, an emerging wireless technology designed for short-distance sharing. Maybe this is like the infrared sort of thing or perhaps the card scanning or whatever, I don’t know. But note that Windows Phone devices aren’t the only devices that support NFC. Since NFC is an industry standard, you can share with any device that supports it. Even better is that you can tap on the NFC enabled poster or flyer mentioning some website that allows you to pull up the site in your browser. It is sort of like the some QR code or something for other devices where you can scan your smartphone to those codes to gain access to something that fulfills the objectives.

Using Data Sense, you can help reduce the data consumption while browsing the web without slowing things down or changing how sites appear. With that enabled, you’ll be able to load up to 45% more web pages on the same data plan or wireless connection. Also, the favorites and settings for the web browsers are backed up in case you ever lose or charge your smartphone. This may be due to the use of Microsoft Account in which your favorites and settings are kept in the cloud similar to other web browsers like Google Chrome.

Like Android and computers, the smartphones are potentially vulnerable to security threats. The SmartScreen Filter, the same as found in the computer that’s protected millions of people, is in Windows Phone as well. Also, like Windows 8’s IE 10, IE 10 for Windows Phone has the Do Not Track feature, which signals websites that you prefer not to have information collected about your visit as you browse. It’s important to note that it’s up to individual sites to determine how to interpret this signal. The feature is turned on if you choose the recommended setup option the first time you use the browser on Windows Phone and Windows 8.

Unlike Windows Phone 7.5, it seems that the Find on Page as the developers are asked to put in is in Windows Phone 8 as they are honest that they had already run out of time during the development.  This feature is also in Internet Explorer 10 which means it’s fast and robust.

Lastly, in case you find things missing, you can use the Suggestion Box to make suggestions on what do you need the developers to put in. For me, I may need the TABS to be MOVABLE like the desktop edition of the web browsers themselves.

DirectX 11.1

Windows 8 has an updated DirectX 11.1 that supports Direct3D 11.1, DXGI 1.2 and the revised Windows Imaging Component. There were previous official claims that the new PC gaming technology in DirectX 11 is available for Windows 8 devices but to make things inaccurately fair enough, there are some backported features of DirectX 11 for Windows 7 and its server variant under Platform Update for Service Pack 1 that is included with Internet Explorer 10 Release Preview for Windows 7. In addition, you can get this update for Windows 7.

However, there are some DirectX elements that depend on WDDM 1.2 drivers and the new Windows Store app APIs in which they won’t be available on Windows 7. Maybe things are much smoother like that on Windows 8 but another improvement includes the fixes of decoding of 96bpp floating-point TIFF images. So for Windows 7 users, you can obtain this update and start photo-shopping straight away and save the pictures as TIFF files for technological improvement.

Internet Explorer 10 Release Preview for Windows 7

The web browser on Windows 8 surely looks fast and fluid but the Metro version may appear to be the best for tablets. In Windows 7 version, the fast and fluid thing is almost perfect as there are still traces of non-metroized icons. OK, it may be fast but not as fast as in Windows 8 and besides, it still looks like Internet Explorer 9 but kind of better. In the meantime, the release preview is available for download today.

Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 has backported features of Windows 8 version which may be where the browser is not affected by that freaking development disaster in the first place like people are already sticking on to Windows 7 due to that. Another thing that will change the technology in the future is the Do Not Track feature which is also on the rival web browsers.

IE10 has more interoperable HTML5 support and enhanced web programming model for Windows 7 and 8 which improve the HTML5 even more and especially for sophisticated page layouts in which there’s CCS3 for publication quality page layouts and application UI with HTML5 Forms, input controls and validation. For Enhanced Web Programming Model, it has better offline applications through local storage with indexedDB and HTML5 Application Cache, HTML5 History, HTML5 File APIs and the list goes on. Developers building on these capabilities in Windows 8 can run the same markup with the same performance and capabilities on Windows 7.

Overall, this web browser is about the major improvement to the HTML5 technology in which the opportunities continue for HTMl5 to make both web sites and online applications better. If you have a Windows 8 device, you can already encounter this kind of new experience with Internet Explorer 10 .

Bing Apps on Windows 8 Available as part of the launch

The day after the launch of the operating system has the excitement still on-going as the event at Times Square is not over yet. Exclusive to Windows 8 version of Bing search page, there’s the 360 degree panorama that allows you to zoom, pinch and swipe as you explore the images but you can do the same on any modern browser that supports HTML5 with the mouse or other same controls. For Windows 8 users, you may need to go to Windows Store and get the Bing apps and update them to get the latest features.

  • Bing Search – Well, if there’s an instant search feature similar to the one on Google Search, that will make this one extra fast and fluid. Finger-friendly results and images are front and center letting you quickly find what you’re looking for. You can rely on the same great Bing web experience in Internet Explorer 10 but it can shine as well on Windows 8 Bing apps.
  • Bing Weather – This one brings you the beautiful preview of the weather backgrounds that helps you prepare for the latest conditions with hourly, daily and 10-day forecasts. To help plan when to do something, historical data is available to examine the respective weather conditions for a given time period. Also, like the Weather apps on other devices, you can add additional time zones of weather predictions for tracking real time and daily predictions for other sets of places of interest to you.
  • Bing Media apps – You know, I’ve been checking for the latest news regarding Technology so these apps are not for me. These include Finance, Travel, News in any type and Sports and I’m not into them so I’m sticking back to probably Pulse app or perhaps Rockmelt to check out more news of Technology.

Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7

Repeat slacker and repeat ignorant, huh, IE? It wasn’t like that the last time like I was able to use it but some trolls who have been against technology must have been against me like that even until today. And because of this technical offense, I had completely uninstalled IE from my computers in favor of other web browsers. HOW, HOW could they mean to offend me like this for no technical reasons that caused this reaction from me?

Hoho, why IT manufacturing companies? I’ve been supporting the hell out of you but you let someone who’s anti-technology troll on me like that. In any case, I may want to see and make sure that Internet Explorer 10 is getting good, damn it and especially for the Windows 7 version of the browser that will be in November. Well, this has been it for me. The idiotic trolling will continue until few years or perhaps several years later in which the lesson will be learnt on not to mess with me again. You may be spared for knowing my online profile but if you try to test parts of my profile like that, you may be perhaps a selfish one or something.

New Xbox 360 Dashboard update starts rolling out

Last time, there was a public beta of the update and anyone who had taken part for the beta update was not allowed to share or blog things about the update because certain things were confidential. Sharing would obviously get you banned from future participation of the future technology as I think.

  • Refreshed Xbox 360 Dashboard – It brings out additional apps and services such as tuning to videos, movies, TV shows, music and even trying out more apps.
  • Internet Explorer for Xbox – Just like the web browsers on other home consoles, Internet Explorer for Xbox 360 has modern support for HTML5. So how do you view online videos from video sharing sites like that? Well, that will be YouTube app but that requires gold subscription. And please don’t me that this is one technical offender which refuses to work on me again like an ignorant browser.
  • Recommendations and Ratings – Recommendations are based on your views of movies, TV shows and even music that allow you to discover new favorites, generated based on a number of variables including the content you previously viewed, what your friends are consuming and what is most relevant and popular within the Xbox community. Well, is there a reason not to have the Hotmail community as well so that people can try out the Xbox Live media services that are similar to ITunes even if they don’t own the Xbox 360 console?
  • Pinning – Well, this is going to be quite weird and time consuming for Xbox 360 Dashboard. Sure, you can do this in Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices but on Xbox 360, it’s kind of weird for me. If there are various tabs on top of the screen that represent the respective stuffs, why do you need to pin stuffs in here?
  • Recent Play – I believe that Quick Play was on late last year’s release of the new Xbox 360 Dashboard that will allow you to view the content you previously viewed.
  • Enhanced Search – Last year, there was a voice support for Bing but I don’t use voice commands at all because it’s kind of embarrassing or perhaps I fear that it may have already attracted retards to say out such stupid things to the devices in which they don’t even understand. Perhaps there is nothing specially interesting that will attract more people to use voice commands but I’m sure that the otakus in Japan will be surprised to use the Siri-like technology on their Docomo Android devices. Sure, there may be mascots for the upcoming Windows 8 as well but I don’t know if you really want to buy that edition of the OS to check out the newer voice clips. This year, they added genre search to the list and Bing voice search now includes results for video across the Web including YouTube.

For Xbox SmartGlass, it will be coming in October 26th as well and that day will drive Microsoft hyper-busy for sure with thousands of sellers attempting to sell off the products with Microsoft’s future technology to the customers. It will be available for the tablets, computers and smartphones and feature key foundational experiences for interacting with your Xbox 360 such as dashboard and app navigation and Internet Explorer control. How do you use this as the bottom DS screen which displays additional information while you play games? In fact, you can even this app to remotely select the game features but I don’t know if you can remotely control the character by using this app to do so. By controlling the character in 3D games remotely, you are actually using that device as the controller for the console provided that your Xbox 360 and the device you’re using are connected to each other. If there’s an opportunity for this to happen…

One last thing, the Xbox Music app that is part of today’s Dashboard update will launch with free streaming on all Windows 8 devices on October 26th and Windows Phone 8 as devices arrive in the market. In the meantime, you can enjoy the new Xbox Music on your console while waiting for Windows 8 to be out.

New MSN For Windows 8

Oh man, I bet that there will be lawsuits for browser unfairness like this. Why is the New MSN exclusive to Internet Explorer 10? What about the other browsers in the metro style, huh?

Well, at least things can be easier and optimized for tablets but then this kind of experience will be available in October 26th. In addition to the news in various categories, there’s also the weather gadget on the site where you can choose to share whatever you want to Facebook, Skype or perhaps Twitter. You can also view Hotmail account from there like you may want to check out the incoming mails. In addition to the home page, there will be gadgets on other pages as well but I don’t know if they are considered gadgets or not because on the home page, the weather thing surely looks like the freaking gadget.

OK, I already had enough of Internet Explorer as it kept on refusing to corporate with my whole home network that I switched to other browsers instead but guess what, it seems that XINMSN is still stuck on the current way like it hasn’t evolved yet. The evolution will take on October 26th where everything looks Metro-ized but I don’t know how XINMSN will look like for Internet Explorer 10. Try using other web browsers in metro style and I don’t think it’s gonna work that way but hopefully, this will not be another disappointment for Windows tablet users.

Office for Windows RT

What do you get when you use Office Desktop edition on the tablets? You get a the fully functional but with un-friendly touch interface. Even worse is that the Desktop app is still un-friendly to the tablet devices no matter how clean and simple the interface is. So, to get around the problem for using Office on tablets, you’re going to need the external keyboard and the mouse as long as they are USB compatible devices. That’s what you can get when using Desktop app because it’s difficult to tap on things like that. Once you’re finished, simply drag from top to bottom of the screen to close the Desktop app so that you can continue to use other Metro apps. Other than Office 15 and Internet Explorer 10, other desktop apps are not allowed so Windows RT may seem to be suitable for Metro apps which may be useful for tablets. In fact, having the Microsoft Surface device that runs Windows 8 Pro is kind of unacceptable to exist because the Desktop app is quite difficult to use with touch.

Last year, there was a question on whether the developers could develop the ARM version of Office and they did. So this led to Steve Ballmer to do the demo on Word and PowerPoint on ARM devices during the Consumer Electronics Show.

Office for Windows RT will be optimized to be Touch-Enabled, Portable with the ability to run on battery for long periods of time, having memory capabilities to start at 2GB and so on. Wow, 2GB of memory capabilities? Does it mean that 2GB of RAM and above is required on tablets? Perhaps you can to buy Asus Vivo Tab and its RT counterpart tablets for maximum performance.

For the new Office to take less energy of the CPU, Windows 8 adds the new coalescable timers which allow programs to be more battery-life friendly by specifying a range of time to wake up rather than an absolute interval to save battery life, compared to Windows 7 and below which was still ticking that you were guaranteed to wake up every ~16ms. Also, for Office 2k10, there were some situations where applications would wake up the CPU more than 1000 per minutes when the system goes idle but with the new Office, the developers have reduced that by 95% when the user isn’t interacting with the program. To save the battery life even more, the blinking cursor where you type in the text stops blinking after a few seconds if the user stops interacting with the application. However, this can get you lost on where you are in if you drift too far away from editing your documents so this one is kind of flawed in saving battery life.

For Windows Update in Windows 8, I bet that this is suitable for normal computers, not tablets because this is not how you update your tablets running Windows like that. Having to patch Windows RT with a bunch of updates is a huge no-no to us which may cause delays like that and multi-language support in Windows RT is kind of flawed as you may end up using the desktop Control Panel to do the installation which can also cause delays like spending time in doing the installation. THAT IS ANOTHER FLAW IN USING WINDOWS RT IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES, EVEN WITH SSD, IT TAKES TIME TO INSTALL! But, can they find a way to save time from doing that stupid installation?

For Office 15 as well as Windows RT combined, things may be extra costly with Mobile Network enabled so it’s best to use cloud technology by Wi-Fi only and thankfully, Office for Windows RT is able to warn you about this.

And lastly, how the hell can you import stuffs onto your documents as well as open and save documents in Office for Windows RT? Will that open up that freaking Open/Save As dialog box in desktop form for example?

Final flaw will include confusing Metro interface in Office 15 for tablets. When the buttons are not hovered, they remain button-less and become the links made of icons and texts compared to the interface of the past. Perhaps Office 15 for Windows RT is overall okay to use so be glad that they didn’t screw this up.

New Outlook Web App

Wow, it seems that Hotmail users are migrating to the new Metro Outlook Web App in which you can also use the Outlook 15 but I don't know if that is available for Home Premium edition of Office 15 because we all know that Outlook is like Hotmail for business use. But with the use of the new Outlook Web App, we are able to use the Hotmail account to retrieve our emails from there besides using the Hotmail website. I guess that our Hotmail account is still up to date like that no matter but I don't think it is the same when using other apps to retrieve emails on your Hotmail accounts. Maybe because the way your Hotmail account is up-to-date is inaccurate.
There are three versions of the online app which are truly compatible. First, is the normal computer use in which there's not much to say. Second, is the tablet use in which the app is divided into two to three parts depending on the tablet device you're using. It may be the same for the older computers whose screens are 4:3 but I guess that Outlook Web App has like more features than the standard Mail app on Windows 8. Lastly is the phone use and the whole GUI design is like the style of Windows Phone. But then, on other devices, the whole opportunity is like a joke.
In addition, there may be Outlook Apps such as the LinkedIn App for Outlook that can be activated in Outlook Web App. Other features include the Forgotten Attachment Detector, improved Draft indicators and the inaccurate drag-and-drop of files from the desktop in which you're better off going to the Metro version of File Attachment screen if you're using the tablet device.
Well, it's Outlook or perhaps Hotmail, right, and you get to see certain features formed in to one whole app? The new view in the calendar is MOGENDA which is the combination of Monthly and Agenda view. You can also peek at the schedules in the calendar to know the premises or perhaps the importance of what's happening. There will be factors, telling you what you're supposed to do when you try to follow the schedules so make sure you're prepared.
Now for Browser and Operating System Support, you get two flavors.

  • OWA Premium: It requires IE8 and above as well as newer versions of Safari, Chrome and Firefox on the computers. For tablets, the requirements are Windows 8 Tablets, IOS 6 on Ipad 2 and Iphone 4 or later in the initial release in which IOS 6 is still under development. You can still use the preview edition of this on IOS 5 but on Ipod Touch 4th Gen with IOS 5, what a joke when I just accessed Outlook Web App, lol.
  • OWA Light: This is the basic version that IE7 for example, can support in case you do not have the latest version of the web browser on your computer.
Now, it seems that the future of Microsoft Office has been spread that normal users may have the opportunity to try out newer programs that were for business use such as the Office 365 service and this, the Outlook Web App.

Windows 8 RP Part Two with Upgrade Offer

It seems that they are not finished yet and there is more to come after Windows 8 Release Preview release.

So check out the new stuffs and improvements such as more personalization options for the Start Screen, improved multi-monitor support, and new Family Safety features to name a few. Other improvements include Mail, Photos and People apps and we can notice Bing-powered Travel, News and Sports apps. Nah, I’m not using the Bing-powered Travel, News and Sports by the way as I’ve no interest on them so all is left is to use the Bing Search and Bing Weather. IE10 also has new capabilities like Adobe Flash Player and Do Not Track set to on by default.

Ha, it looks like we’re fucking excited and curious in using Windows 8 Release Preview and it’s the same for some of my ex-college classmates. Starting from June 2nd, Microsoft will roll out Windows Upgrade Offer in 131 markets. Consumers who have purchased eligible Windows 7 PCs that are preinstalled with Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate and include a matching and valid OEM COA through January 31 next year will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99 which will be redeemable when Windows 8 is generally available. When the consumers register for the Windows Upgrade Offer, they will be able to download Windows 8 Pro starting the day it’s made RTM and the upgrade comes with 90 days of support from Microsoft. I’m already trying out Windows 8 RP on my old computer.

One bonus thing is that if you have a mouse or keyboard from Microsoft Hardware, you’re suggested to try Microsoft Device Center Beta. Device Center allows you to easily customize your mouse and keyboard experience in Windows 8 and is compatible with Windows 8 RP. It also helps bring the touch experience to your mouse within Windows 8 RP as well if you have an Explorer Touch Mouse and Touch Mouse. Microsoft Hardware will have more details to share regarding their Touch Portfolio of products sometime around Windows 8 RTM.

Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 RP

They might have built the experience by extending IE’s underlying architecture to provide a fast, fully hardware-accelerated browsing engine with strong security and support for HTML5 and other web standards. The browser may provide the best protection from malicious software on the web while providing convenient control over your online privacy. How true this can be when it comes to Windows 8 tablets and on ARM devices? If they are supposed not to have desktop support, then there’s still sign of virus infection that targets the desktop mode files which may contain both the core of the Metro and desktop experiences. Perhaps, the Metro style browsing experience is the best way to browse on the touch screen devices. Metro style browsing offers you a full-screen ,immersive site experience like other browsers on the tablet devices except that this one’s completely chrome-less. Using the Charms bar, you can share and print stuff and search for various stuff you want to look for but what’s missing though, is the bookmarks for Metro edition. In other tablet OSes, their web browsers surely have the bookmark management. Sure, you can search by text as well as to share something and switch the tabs. Eventually, the fast speed is still focused on the SSD devices and other computers that are even better than mine to be frank.

The Release Preview version of IE10 Metro edition includes its own Adobe Flash Player Metro version. How the heck did Adobe collaborate with Microsoft like that? With Flash Player on IE10 Metro, this won’t be a problem accessing certain Flash stuff so it’s kind of fair enough just like using other tablet devices. So sites like YouTube may still have best experience with Flash as watching videos like that in HTML5 mode is kind of bitchy in terms of the interaction and there’s still delay whatsoever. Can IE10 Metro edition get around the problem for HTML5 mode of YouTube? In fact, the Javascript is also the pain in the ass like things refuse to work when clicking on the Javascript links on the browsers.

What about copying some stuff from IE10 Metro browser on the tablet? I haven’t seen this working like that as I’m using Windows 8 on my laptop. Can you copy the picture, whole paragraph, whole sentence, certain words or perhaps, parts of the screen on the Windows 8 tablet? If this kind of copying is there, good for the company. Otherwise, it’s a serious shame on Microsoft. There will be AutoCorrect when you enter stuff on the browser.

There are certain things like double tapping to zoom in and out and toggling full screen on and off on the browser. For toggling full screen on and off by double tapping, this is in Release Preview when focusing on HTML5 video.

The SmartScreen and InPrivate browsing are still there but the other parts of security are missing in IE10 Metro version. If those from the desktop version are put in Metro version, then the Metro version will be as secure as I can guess. What’s new in Release Preview is that there will be Paste and Go command for fast navigation to copied URLs or search terms on the clipboard. The address bar supports the progress indicator when the page is loading and includes indicators for site compatibility and tracking protection. The navigation bar includes commands for Find On Page, and Open in IE on the desktop mode which is supposed to be unnecessary for tablets. Opening IE desktop edition is for compatibility with sites that require legacy plug-in technologies, or for when you are using desktop tools and wish to continue in your existing workflows. Perhaps not all plugins are likely to work correctly on desktop web browsers.

Then there comes a disadvantage though for Release Preview version, the page flip which flips through the entire webpage which is not a good thing. It should be in the Reader app, not the web browser because the PDF files are like virtual books on the Kindle and Ipad where you can flick left and right to flip pages and flipping pages like that on the web is a lousy idea. Imagine that you’re reading articles on the news or blogs and you see some navigations on the top side, left side and right side of the web and you flip like that to see the next article. That is freaking awkward and there’s no flipping on this blog either as we’re already moving on to abstract/futuristic sort of blog design on this blog. You know, transitioning to next tabs may be worth it. After all, the article section is vertical so is the rest of the blog layout.

Like the desktop version of IE10, you can clean up the tabs in the Metro version. I guess this closes the other tabs leaving the current tab intact.

IE10 takes a clean, “low nag” approach to notifications. All alerts and user prompts come through a notification bar at the bottom of the screen. It uses the Metro style “fly-outs” when more interaction is needed. This is like the Open With Metro edition when you want to use which app to open which type of file like opening PNG files with Photos app for instance. Notification bars automatically dismiss as appropriate. Downloads in the Metro style browser protect you from malicious software via SmartScreen’s Application Reputation similar to the desktop edition. The Release Preview adds support for “pop-up” windows as background tabs in the Metro style experience.

In Release Preview, the developers can provide higher resolution PNG file site icon and specify the tile background color. With IE10, sites can provide background notifications for new messages and other account activity on the website. The site can also program additional commands that appear in IE’s navigation bar in a touch-friendly way, the same way that sites can program jumplists for desktop edition.

Oh man, if only there’s a trademark button about linking to specific Metro apps at Windows Store just like linking to specific IOS app at the ITunes App Store. What this mean is that if you’ve stumbled upon Wordpress App for Windows 8, you can click on the button that brings you to Windows Store and goes directly to Wordpress App just like clicking on the button that goes to ITunes App Store. Moreover, you’re going to need ITunes client in order to download apps using your computer. However, an inaccurate thing they did was to add Get App For This Site command from the menu that has Find On Page and View On The Desktop. That sounds kind of bullshit not because Windows 8 isn’t still finalized yet.

Now, for Charms that cooperate with IE10, the Search charm is an optional way to search stuff on the net elsewhere the Devices charm can allow you to print, project and play to external device.

Next, IE10 offers the same industry leading security, privacy and reliability features, building on IE9’s SmartScreen, XSS filtering, Application Reputation, InPrivate Browsing, Tracking Protection and Hang Detection and Recovery. Well, it seems that those features on the desktop edition still behave like those on IE9 as well like there’s no difference whatsoever when the browser crashes for example. For Metro version, I don’t know the actual difference. In addition, IE10 makes the security and privacy more convenient with Enhanced Protected Mode for better isolation of website content in each tab, and new in RP is one simple setting for sending the Do Not Track signal to websites. The Do Not Track signal may be damn useful as if nobody can mess with you like that but if you’re using other browsers or perhaps Windows 7 and below, who knows?

Summary of improvements from CP to RP version

  • Support for full-screen HTML5 video, including double tap that toggles full screen on and off.
  • Support for Flash in Metro IE10
  • Context menu for Save Image and Paste and Go
  • Support for High-Res image for pinned sites tile in Start Screen. Pinned sites on Start Screen? Well, that’s not considered bookmarks like that by the way

Overall, this may seem to be quite okay for desktop and laptop users but for tablet users, it’s like a freaking disappointment due to the fact that there’s not enough good work done and therefore, the browser is kind of slightly below average for tablet users. It was average for CP version for tablet users but hopefully, Microsoft should try even harder or there will be scolding for sure for not putting up enough finalized resources on the web browser. It’s okay for desktop and laptop users but it’s not for tablet users. So the Metro version of IE10 RP for tablet users will be more like IE10 Cloud Release instead.
