The PC Show of this year

*Sigh* What else I can blog about other than the stuffs that have security topics in them as well as the events I may have to blog about whether they are online or outside, not to mention the previous stuffs I had purchased? I have already attended tons of IT events related to my interests like I had been exploring the entire place full of technological stuffs at Singapore Expo. So much that there's really not much to say about all of that as I already have the knowledge of new brands, new kinds of products and technologies and really, what else I can say about that?
The new stuffs so far for this event I had stumbled upon were the RealSense 3D from Intel which is kind of like the Kinect except it's part of the device. Like the 3D cameras, the RealSense 3D has multiple camera lens that allow for multiple layers like I thought of the similar concept of classic games redone on the 3DS. It's just the same stuffs but with multiple layers. But it depends on whichever classic game you play on which the 2D layers may become the 3D planes or not. There are some special apps that will allow you to remove specific layers like some objects in front you don't want in the photo. Of course, there's no stereoscopy stuff like that whatsoever as if the photo is divided into two camera angles. No, it isn't like that. It's just the photo divided into multiple layers. For the games using RealSense 3D, there was some unknown casual game that was being done using your hand. You can't use two hands at the same time as I was told. You're supposed to use your hand to escort the warriors to the exit. But be warned, there are obstacles in the way as well as other stuffs you need to do like getting the keys to open the doors. Anything destroyed or something like that will result in an incomplete level. App stores using RealSense? Who knows? I don't know if that game is on smartphones and tablets before being shown at Singapore Expo with the use of RealSense technology. Keep in mind that the RealSense technology is still under development and we may expect improvements like multiple distances from the device to choose from as the only way to play properly would be to come near the device which was obviously not useful for other game genres.
The next one is the Samsung Galaxy Gear VR that was shown in the same place as well and just like RealSense 3D, certain special apps make use of that accessory for VR gaming. It was handy sitting down and turning the chair and your head around, dodging and shooting at things in space. But when it comes to the first-person or third-person spaceship shooter with full manual controls, it can be a difficult thing to implement in the VR itself other than using your body to turn the ship around which kind of works. But you know what works with VR and body control, a 360 degree ground rail-shooter where you're wearing the VR on your head and standing around with the wireless gun controller shooting at things. It's kind of like those games on 3DS where you turn around while holding it. It should be handy enough for VR arcade gaming but who's going to come up with the idea like that?
Lastly, the recommendation message is changed to have Windows 10 for the computers instead of Windows 8 or 8.1 like "(Manufacturer name) recommends Windows 8.1" to "(Manufacturer name) recommends Windows 10" for instance.

IOS 9

The upcoming IOS 9 has better multitasking features and more intelligence. It is designed to improve performance, battery life, security, user experience and Siri.
For Siri, she will learn more about your intentions over time but that may still look inaccurate unless you have planned out your schedules. A great improvement is that when an unidentified number pops up on your phone, it will try to track down the device to identify what it is to indicate whether it's the same user using it or not.
For security improvements, your emails, photos or other data won't be scanned for information mining and that you can get in control of the data and privacy with the deeper Siri and search integration.
Other improvements involve the Apple Pay, Apple Map, the on-screen keyboard that has the copy and paste feature as well as the split view feature that is similar to the one in Windows 8. However, not all multitasking features are available in various IOS devices. The last improvement is the Low-Power mode that improves the battery life that will last few more hours.
And if you want to try out, the preview version will be out in July and the download size is much smaller than the one in IOS 8 in which people had some trouble about the storage size after upgrading to IOS 8 or buying the device that has IOS 8 pre-installed. 4.6GB for IOS 8 is already way too much and it may be akin to downloading a 4GB ISO image of Mac OSX that the amount of hard disk space required is like more than 4GB. And if you have an IOS device that has 8GB of storage capacity, perhaps, the IOS 9 upgrade should be less of a problem provided that your device is able to upgrade to that as IOS 9 takes up 1.3GB for OS upgrade. The final version will be out sometime in Fall this year but we may want to make sure that they should not screw it up.

Microsoft TwinsOrNot.net

There was an update sometime last month indicating that Microsoft doesn't keep the photos after the security experts had found out that the photos were stored in some Azure database that was used in HowOld.net service. It was a shameful move from Microsoft but it was either experimental or not expected. Even then, there was some serious security controversy regarding that service that would take you back to when the new Kinect device was being planned. And in fact, it wasn't even techniaclly excusable to indicate that improvements to HowOld.net service were on the way for more accuracy on age detection over security flaws.
Then, there's TwinsOrNot.net and for whatever reason, things may be much more challenging than HowOld.net to implement as an experiment or something. And guess how long it took to develop, weeks or perhaps months? NO, IT'S 4 HOURS on this web service alone and Nintendo came out with something like this years ago! But it doesn't matter who came out with something like this the earliest, does it? If it doesn't matter, this is the great time to try this web service out.

Social media presence monitored in UK?

You can probably think that the Americans are having some temporary peace and freedom with the USA Freedom Act that recently passed last time but it's not the same for the UK as if the fighting for the same freedom is still on-going. The illegal cyber-spying thing is still going on but we're not going to let illegal things happen.
The worse thing is that five companies like Twitter, Facebook and so on had collaborated with the UK government to monitor what people do in social media like what was done in the past. We surely know what the similar motives and purposes are but by the time people find out about this, there are alternative services or perhaps some security protection tools to look for.
A fair news is that there are options to control what kind of data will be collected and what kind of other data will not like what Twitter and Google have already implemented. It will be the same for the new Android OS that allows you to deny or allow app access permissions. If you allow that permission, I can assume that your data will be collected. Maybe it's all the technical definition of equality.

IOT Business Plan webinar

It's part three of the webinar and to a surprise, the host had gone through all the slides unlike the second part in which he ran out of time. Again, this is by no means an IPv6 related webinar as it might seem to be off-topic to Gogonet Community. Why was I invited to this in the first place? There has to be a clue about getting IOT devices connected to IPv6 technology as existing devices already have the IPv4 addresses allocated. It may be a shame that newer devices are using the newer components and taking out the older ones completely. Having third-party conversion components as the workaround may give you an inaccurate result like it's not going to work.
This one is all about the business strategy and it applies to other technology products as well so there's nothing much special to say other than the technical stuffs from the second part of the webinar like the external data, analytics, business products, IOT products and software and hardware-defined which are cyber and physical respectively.
You actually need to know what you're planning in designing your stuffs like the IOT product with sufficient originality and common features. Not to mention that the price should be made comfortable enough for customers to buy as well as the importance of the product quality. I guess that this is all but the business strategies I can talk and think about.
And of course, if I have to post this exact same blog post to my Gogonet Blog, I can assume that I may get criticized by the community members for posting that like it's an off-topic blog post to them and has nothing to do with IPv6. Speaking of IOT, you can start off with the Raspberry Pi 2 with whatever OS you want for IOT device design.

Google My Account Hub

This one looks new and features more privacy and security control of your account. And before I just blogged about this, I already made adjustments to the privacy and security of my Google account with Privacy and Security Checkups. For history, I already turned everything off except for the YouTube video view history in which I still can go to the YouTube history section to see the previous videos. However, it still appears that I have the option to keep or remove the apps that require access to various Google serivces and like there's no way to customize the permissions.
This feature is built for the cloud security where you can make adjustments there even if you don't have your Google account.

Section 215 of Patriot Act allowed to expire

As controversial as the Patriot Act is in which many of the spying programs were illegal and that had to stop, it was a great victory for the freedom and especially for the fact that the Americans are able to get more secure than ever after the Patriot Act expired today. Even the watered down version of the USA Freedom Act wasn't successful and that version isn't what we want. Freedom seekers surely want the proper and real USA Freedom Act that protects the privacy of the Americans as a basic human right.
Those illegal cyber-spying programs had surely gone too far and freedom seeking and proper privacy are the true reasons on why are many people wanting that kind of bullshit to stop. It was a major concern for foreign leaders, foreign nations and tech companies ever since the global knowledge about all of this two years ago. The tech companies were concerned about their customers' privacy being compromised because of that and before things like the Patriot Act expired or something, there was already a strong encryption level for various services and new devices that was designed to protect the privacy from those illegal spying programs. However, that security level is way too strong as if things are not going fair in the opposite way like it can help the baddies sneak through their missions un-noticed. This is not what the tech companies want and the Digital Crime Unit by Microsoft is one of the reasons to trace down the criminals and their command centers they call the various rooms containing those computing machines. Those rooms may be from the criminals' home or some other place.
However, the victory doesn't last a long time as according to EFF, the system is likely to be back in place as early as sometime tomorrow. Hell, even the telephone metadata collection by Verizon was made illegal as well as if this was one of the surprises to those who are against that ISP.
