Microsoft map technology sold to Uber

Yahoo and Google search happened to have improved security by making HTTPS as the default protocol but the better news is that Microsoft sold the map technology to Uber that they decided to stop collecting data information when searching for locations in Bing search. However, the controversy still continues with Uber and I don't know if this move will make things worse or better. Also, the Bing search might have the HTTPS mode as well but when going through www.bing.com alone, it doesn't seem to bring us to the HTTPS mode by default. I guess that Google and Yahoo search automatically bring you to HTTPS mode by default but I may expect that Microsoft should make HTTPS mode the default protocol for Bing search in the future as soon as possible for improved security.

Apple says that users have bought Android by mistake
Will there be a serious fan-war or something over these two platforms? So, what are the problems Android is having nowadays? The first thing is that Android OS may seem to be the target for the amount of malwares due to the apps from outside the Play Store in which the custom apps can be installed through Package Installation similar to the way you install in Linux. Android 4.3 is the first OS to start simplifying the interface visually and Android 4.4 is like the most recent one so comparison between IOS 7 and Android 4.4 is a strange thing. What about the Android 4.3 that was part of the comparison? Well, the thing is, Android 4.4 is already the recent one in the Android series OSes for both the phones and tablets but not all Android devices can be upgraded to the latest versions and that's the thing. Also, I can't guarantee if you are going to upgrade your Android device to the latest Android OS the non-official way.
But then, the encryption of the Google services is already at the beginning at the next level to improve the security but it's already taking companies like Google some time to finish implementing all the security improvement plans.

Bing being the default search engine in Mac OSX 10.10
What happens to the rivalry nowadays between Apple and Microsoft? And why the hate on Google by then? Is security issue the reason on why someone at Microsoft was bashing the hell out of Google? With this collaboration between Apple and Microsoft as friendlies instead of rivals, they've better do good this time with their Mac OSX 10.10 as well as the service encryption at higher levels that will protect their customers' rights and put some unsecured and pointless Google services to shame. Another promising thing is that Bing is receiving some momentum thanks to Mac OSX, Siri and Windows 8 but then, there shouldn't be a mockery of Windows 8 and 8.1 in the first place on stage during the event. The main problem for causing this mockery was on how heavily criticized Windows 8 was when released and some of the criticisms are still intact with Windows 8.1. The amount of Windows 8 users is probably decreasing as many users have upgraded to Windows 8.1 as if the mockery by Apple is kind of as inaccurate as a mistake. Have they included Windows 8.1 in the mockery as well? Hell, how about someone pretending to resume the Google bashing to see how this can anger the amount of Google users?

Bing Social Results for Ipad

Previously, they already started rolling out this feature and now it was available for the IPad yesterday in the western regions. This feature is for Safari on Ipad including Ipad Mini for the social sidebar. This is kind of easier to plan your decisions on Ipad than on the normal computers as the device is more mobile and you can plan from anywhere you are in.

In addition, you can also connect to other accounts of yours such as the social networking accounts to get the search started with this new feature similar to Google search engine.

I don’t know if this will be available on other web browsers as well as the mobile versions of those web browsers but until then, you can try out this new feature on the Ipad devices.

Finding famous people and places with Bing

Looks like they’re planning the features for Bing that are somewhat similar to the ones in Google search engine. When you search for something famous, you may end up seeing the picture next to the description as well as the web address and the title of the web page. In addition, you can see the section that displays several images that you can see even more if you click on the Image tab. Also on Google search engine as well as the Bing search engine, if you hover on the link, you can see the preview on the right pane as well as the related topics you want to search for as well. However, there are some differences between these two search engines. The Bing search engine has the Social Results pane that displays the topics that are posted in social networking websites.

Bing Apps on Windows 8 Available as part of the launch

The day after the launch of the operating system has the excitement still on-going as the event at Times Square is not over yet. Exclusive to Windows 8 version of Bing search page, there’s the 360 degree panorama that allows you to zoom, pinch and swipe as you explore the images but you can do the same on any modern browser that supports HTML5 with the mouse or other same controls. For Windows 8 users, you may need to go to Windows Store and get the Bing apps and update them to get the latest features.

• Bing Search – Well, if there’s an instant search feature similar to the one on Google Search, that will make this one extra fast and fluid. Finger-friendly results and images are front and center letting you quickly find what you’re looking for. You can rely on the same great Bing web experience in Internet Explorer 10 but it can shine as well on Windows 8 Bing apps.
• Bing Weather – This one brings you the beautiful preview of the weather backgrounds that helps you prepare for the latest conditions with hourly, daily and 10-day forecasts. To help plan when to do something, historical data is available to examine the respective weather conditions for a given time period. Also, like the Weather apps on other devices, you can add additional time zones of weather predictions for tracking real time and daily predictions for other sets of places of interest to you.
• Bing Media apps – You know, I’ve been checking for the latest news regarding Technology so these apps are not for me. These include Finance, Travel, News in any type and Sports and I’m not into them so I’m sticking back to probably Pulse app or perhaps Rockmelt to check out more news of Technology.

Office Store

Wow, even more apps to try out like I'm always looking for new apps I want to obtain from Windows Store. Here comes Office Store where you can obtain the add-on apps for the respective Office programs which may be easier than finding those add-ons on the net to install them manually which is NOT easy.
For Excel's add-on apps, there are some interesting examples like the Bubbles Chart and Medal Tracker. What an opportunity for Microsoft to add the Medal Tracker just because the Olympics is still on-going until August 12th, huh. And speaking of Olympics this year, Google has implemented the interesting mini-games doodles that are the parts of it. The first game reminded us of Track & Field by Konami but the controls were kind of weird that I had to figure out and eventually, I figured out that you're supposed to tap both the left and right arrows simultaneously as fast as you can while using Space key to jump. You have to do this without knocking down any single one hurdle as doing so can slow you down and take more time. For Medal Tracker, this is one great opportunity for you to try and record down the scores which may be kind of easy but the difficulty of entering these may depend on the games. For Bubbles Chart which is like making a chart mixed with Science. It's a new chart but it's an external one. Lastly is the Bing Maps and you can use that to visualize the set of data geographically. These apps are kind of unique to use in Excel but for me, I'm gonna try out the Bubbles Chart after this blog post one day.
In the preview builds, apps for Office so far are available for Word, Excel, Project and Outlook so the final version will include support for PowerPoint. Will that give me the best opportunity for further multimedia work using those addons for PowerPoint? Who knows? Maybe in the future when I have found the apps that are suitable for me to use in the new PowerPoint.
The apps are separate in terms of process but they can take up extra resources and extra start-up time. So the more add-ons you install, the longer the Office program takes to start but it's best to use the add-ons you use regularly with the other add-ons turned off to save time. If the external apps crash like Adobe Flash crashing on the browser which may be irritating, it seems that Office programs are not affected. You can restart the apps that have already crashed but then, there must be improvements to the apps to prevent future crashes. Another thing is that, if you insert stuffs from those apps into the document, the app you use to insert will be activated. Or when you open the document that contains the app objects, the apps whose stuffs are inserted will be activated as well.
So there you have it, the new kinds of add-ons which are the Office Apps for Office 15 only. You can try to backport the stuffs inserted using those apps into Office 2k10 by firstly screen-shooting the document and then selecting the app parts you want to insert into the document that is backwards compatible. I bet that it's an imaginative trick you can try to show off in the meeting presentations like your colleagues will be like, what the hell is up with these and how did you insert those and where did you get those from. Depending on the opinion, the apps may be cool or perhaps unnecessary enhancements to the documents.

IPv6 with Windows 8

OK, it seemed that Microsoft was one of the participants in World IPv6 Launch day. It was a great opportunity for the company. For me, I took a great opportunity to get IPv6 enabled as well as I’ve been using the GogoClient for this. It may be an important protocol for the future of technology and if you’re not aware of it and you’re still surfing the net like that, I can say it’s a shame on you. The shame is even more real for saying that the IPv6 is not important and you’re forcing us to keep on surfing the net like that without the use of it over various purposes. Finally, simply excluding IPv6 as part of educational learning for technological students and teachers is another complete shame on the campuses and schools but thankfully, the students and teachers who are into learning computer stuff a lot like me are already aware of running out of IPv4 addresses.

For several years, Microsoft has been working to roll out IPv6 across various devices, services and network infrastructure. So how does this work? Well, starting with Windows XP SP3, there will be IPv6 supported which is possible for IPv6 transition. And the future of the internet with IPv6 is likely to be now or even later.

They have been working on the deployment of IPv6 to ensure that we have continuous access to the internet. However, upgrading the entire Internet and technology to IPv6 is not as instant task. It is even more difficult to learn than IPv4 as there may be more tons of subnetting than IPv4 has. Furthermore, the address is long and the numbers are all hexadecimal. This may have taken them many years to where are today and they have lots of work to do. Currently, the percentage of devices connected to IPv6 is quite low if not, starting to increase thanks to the awareness of running out of IPv4 addresses.

Man, I hope that my ISP is fucking aware of this as the entire Internet here is still IPv4. I already told some of the staff but it seems that not all staff are aware of running out IPv4 addresses. Where’s the progress? Why is this still serving customers like there’s no new work?

There are three categories for the network transitions.

• IPv4-only network: This is what many users have today and the ISP doesn’t even have the IPV6 technology or perhaps the ISP is still working on the transition. On Windows, it provides IPv6 connectivity by tunneling the traffic inside various transition technologies such as the use of Teredo, where IPv6 packets are encapsulated in IPv4 UDP packets. By default, the top protocol version priority is IPv6 in Windows 8 so Windows 8 attempts to choose IPv6 connectivity when the device is not using IPv4. The Teredo is enabled by default only on non-domain networks and it may not be available if your network blocks the UDP.
• IPv4 and v6 networks: This is way obvious to prevent the Internet cut-off so the IPv6 is another important option not all users will notice. If the ISP has both IPv4 and v6 in which your computer is starting to have these two protocols, it may be the fact that the broadband device is supporting the IPv6 provided that the ISP has support for that protocol besides IPv4. Last year, websites from Microsoft like www.microsoft.com, www.xbox.com and www.bing.com had IPv6 enabled in World IPv6 day so it is obvious that they are having IPv6 support in addition to IPv4 support so there’s no reason to worry about.
• IPv6-only network: If you have a device that is IPv6 only, then the luck during the transition process is not quite easy. While many websites still use IPv4, the ISPs must use a translation device to allow IPv6 network devices to access IPv4 websites. This is known as NAT64 and is becoming popular in the mobile environment because having only one kind of IP between mobile device and the operator’s infrastructure is simpler to deploy and cheaper than using dual-stack configuration. This is already the time we are going to run out of IPv4 addresses and the exhaustion is serious severe so don’t even think or say that the transition is not important.

Address sorting relies on Windows being correctly configured by your router. Windows analyzes the routing information provided by the router and uses that information in conjunction with address sorting to ensure fast connectivity to named resources. If IPv6 is configured by your router, it should be preferred.

Compared to this year’s IPv6 connectivity event, the last year was unfortunately flawed. Some clients were configured with IPv6 routing information but there was no IPv6 access whatsoever. This may be the result of misconfiguration by some ISPs or buggy home routers. Personally, those who are not aware of this network transition at all while working at ISP are likely to be at some faults. Using some kind of priority, Windows attempted to connect to websites using IPv6, expecting it to work but it didn’t. Eventually, it fell back to IPv4 connectivity and that was a BULLSHIT MOMENT to the people.

Windows 8 RP Part Two with Upgrade Offer

It seems that they are not finished yet and there is more to come after Windows 8 Release Preview release.

So check out the new stuffs and improvements such as more personalization options for the Start Screen, improved multi-monitor support, and new Family Safety features to name a few. Other improvements include Mail, Photos and People apps and we can notice Bing-powered Travel, News and Sports apps. Nah, I’m not using the Bing-powered Travel, News and Sports by the way as I’ve no interest on them so all is left is to use the Bing Search and Bing Weather. IE10 also has new capabilities like Adobe Flash Player and Do Not Track set to on by default.

Ha, it looks like we’re fucking excited and curious in using Windows 8 Release Preview and it’s the same for some of my ex-college classmates. Starting from June 2nd, Microsoft will roll out Windows Upgrade Offer in 131 markets. Consumers who have purchased eligible Windows 7 PCs that are preinstalled with Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate and include a matching and valid OEM COA through January 31 next year will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99 which will be redeemable when Windows 8 is generally available. When the consumers register for the Windows Upgrade Offer, they will be able to download Windows 8 Pro starting the day it’s made RTM and the upgrade comes with 90 days of support from Microsoft. I’m already trying out Windows 8 RP on my old computer.

One bonus thing is that if you have a mouse or keyboard from Microsoft Hardware, you’re suggested to try Microsoft Device Center Beta. Device Center allows you to easily customize your mouse and keyboard experience in Windows 8 and is compatible with Windows 8 RP. It also helps bring the touch experience to your mouse within Windows 8 RP as well if you have an Explorer Touch Mouse and Touch Mouse. Microsoft Hardware will have more details to share regarding their Touch Portfolio of products sometime around Windows 8 RTM.
