Ginga Force obtained!

Damn, what a difficult game I had after buying it yesterday! Perhaps the weapons you have from the beginning are not quite useful/powerful enough for survival.
The improvements in the gameplay are that you can fire both the main weapon and sub weapon at the same time although the downside is that you can't use them and the special weapon at the same time. However, if you have the option shot, you can use both the sub weapon and the special weapon at the same time which can be handy enough for Chapter 4 although you need to be careful in some parts of the chapter where the enemy missiles will be fired while the giant enemy battleship moves left and right with the middle weapon firing lots of bullets downwards. That part is where you may need both the option shot and the special weapon at the same time. But if you do have the Slow weapon, you can use all three weapons at the same time but the downside is that you need to be extra careful in dodging stuffs while slowing down the time.
Other flaws involve the inaccurate graphical improvements compared to Eschatos. While the background graphics are looking even better as required for 4:3 vertical shooter in HD form, it cannot be the same for the palette of the textures, the amount of polygons applied as well as the recycled effects from the previous game. The explosions could have been even larger than the enemy size itself and the developers should have used the newer explosion sprites instead of the ones from the previous game to look even better. Another problem is the lack of boss destruction. It is fine in first several chapters where the criminals in this game should be caught but we may expect to see such epic looking boss destruction scene for Chapters 9 and 10. Lastly, the opening. Why is that made out of in-game stuffs? Can't the developers collaborate with some 2D animation studio to do the advanced work on the opening like Treasure, Konami and Warashi did? If someone at Nico Nico Douga is to do his own version, I may expect the whole opening to be in complete anime form although it may be difficult to do so.

Ginga Force for Xbox 360

The only way to buy this recently released game will be from Games On Demand or perhaps online as the game is in Japan only but we're glad that it is region free. Speaking of Games On Demand, I already bought Eschatos from it last year in which the creators of Eschatos made Ginga Force. The effects, shots and other stuffs are somewhat similar between these two games and especially for the sound effects and the way you get the 1UP.
What's even better is that you get the full voice acting support for the gameplay and cutscenes but one of the inferior things about this game is the opening. How is the opening made out of in-game graphics, that's kind of bull-crap compared to other shmups that have true animated openings such as Otomedius Excellent and Trigger-Heart Exelica Enhanced? At least, those two games have the true animated openings but for this game, the developers should have collaborated with the company that has the ability to make a true anime-like opening. Also, you can notice the lack of the boss destruction sequence. Sure, you're capturing the criminals in this game according to the concept and the storyline but later on, you get to encounter the craziest antagonist of all who's trying to summon his own space fleet or whatever to wipe out the fictional Seventier. It was fine with some energy that powered Seventier until he corrupts it for unknown reasons and it's up to you to stop him in further parts of the game. This is where the real disappointment comes in after defeating him when it comes to the lack of the boss destruction sequence like what's so difficult like that when the whole game is in full 4:3? At least for Strania, the whole thing is seriously big, the explosions, the bosses, the enemies, etc but this one surely supersedes Eschatos graphically although the whole graphical quality doesn't seem to be quite enough. Lastly, is a bunch of mini-training simulators to deal with but how are those fun anyway?
The release date? Well, to a surprise, it was released in Valentine's Day last month and it was also when the Lunar New Year days were still on-going but too bad the developers didn't seem to prepare anything for that special day other than the game's release.

My Top 5 Wordpress blog posts of last year

Welcome to my top 5 Wordpress blog posts of last year. So here are the following top 5s blog posts of this year in my Wordpress Blog:
  • Dodonpachi Maximum and Saidaioujou OST CD - There was an update for Dodonpachi Maximum which included an additional stage, updated Ketsui boss battle BGM, more sound effects and other gameplay tweaks. It also included the Easy Mode in case you find the game as hard as balls even in Normal Mode difficulty and above. The bonus songs in the CD are the arranges of the original Dodonpachi and the image song of Dodonpachi Saidaioujou. This year in Spring, you get to hear the Xbox 360 exclusive BGMs in the Xbox 360 port of Dodonpachi Saidaioujou as well as to see the opening and play as the new Xbox 360 exclusive character. Damn it to the Xbox 360 shmup openings, they look as simple as ever with the gameplay videos as part of the opening. Maybe the opening sequence to today's shmups is unnecessary anyway while the ending sequence may be optional depending on the game like escaping from the exploding enemy fortress with your spaceship.
  • Dodonpachi Saidaioujou OST CD Update
  • Eschatos Arrange OST DLC and Patch - Eschatos may seem to be great but the DLC is somewhat tremendously ignored as if people prefer the fan-made arranges instead. There are other updates that allow Tate mode for Judgment Silversword and Cardinal Sins as well as other patches for this game as well. Stay tuned for this February as Ginga Force will be released from the same creators of Eschatos.
  • Soreyuke Burunyanman for PC and PSP - The PSP version has the extra stage which is already ridiculously hard after the last stage and the third playable character is replaced entirely with a different character to make this game a 17+ compared to the PC version. However, these changes were already too late as things were already controversial between this and Galgun on the Playstation 3 which also had the DLCs taken from this game. However, the text is somewhat too small like that on the PSP version and there are more slowdowns than usual. The Playstation Vita port can fix a thing but it cannot be the same for the contents and graphics that this kind of port will not happen. I imagine that the Playstation 3 port will have even sharper graphics but the third playable character should be taken from the PSP version. You know, you're better off with other games instead of this and Galgun.
  • Calendar App for Windows 8 - Well, I've been using Windows 8 ever since the Developer Preview phase and this year, I may be using Windows Embedded Standard 8 Release Preview which may expire in April compared to Windows 8 prototype versions which may expire this month. What happened to the Metro apps? Well, as I'm still using the Release Preview version, the apps are not functioning anymore like it's a COMPLETE SHAME on Microsoft like that for making this operating system a major development disaster compared to its rival mobile operating systems whose apps are still as functional as ever. If not for the stupid Desktop stuff for tablet users, if EVERYTHING is metro-ized which includes EVERYTHING on desktop mode and Metro mode and if NOT for other bugs, it MIGHT have been a better operating system in the first place.
Stay tuned for more video game contribution stuffs of two years ago, last year and especially next year which may mean games released two years ago, last year and next year will be contributed. Unfortunately, this is already taking me beyond last year to complete the contribution like I still have yet to finish remixing the songs from the games released this year so you get to notice even more of these remixes I'll be doing this year. Lastly, you can click here to see the complete annual Wordpress blog report of this year.

Dodonpachi Saidaioujou for Xbox 360

At the Microsoft Xbox event in Japan called Xbox 360 Great Appreciation Festival, Cave had announced that there will be an upcoming Xbox 360 port next year in Spring. It will have an additional Elemental Doll as well as the Arrange Mode in which we don’t even know at this moment. Unfortunately, while the game trailer was shown in the event, it wasn’t posted online on YouTube.

Speaking of Great Appreciation Festival, it seemed that the developers of Ginga Force also had their game on the trial list but unfortunately, it seemed that Cave was the first to show-off the earliest at the event yesterday at 4PM although their latest game, Dodonpachi Saidaioujou is NOT in the trial list. This was when they just announced that there will be a release of it on Xbox 360 in the future. Who knows what games will be on the speech list in September 1st? Another unfortunate thing was that Ginga Force is delayed and the release date will be pushed to sometime later this year than August 30th.

Hmm, we may be nervous that if there is a bad global future, there will be no chance for this release to happen and besides, the arcade version will be the only focus so far we can get before all those bullshit destructions wipe the shit out of us all.

Ginga Force for Xbox 360–Delayed

The original release date was supposed to be August 30th but it was delayed for game quality improvement. They might have plans for this game to be part of Xbox related event in Japan that will be taking place in late August and early September respectively but the opportunity was ruined when the game was so buggy to the developers at this moment.

Ginga Force, the secondary game from the creators of Eschatos, has the similar graphical, gameplay and audio concepts which may be equal to similar development concept but this time, the whole gameplay takes place in 4:3 horizontal format while being a vertical shooter similar to Strania on XBLA. The character concept however is kind of different than Strania and there will be scripts located at the top right of the screen. If there’s voice acting, good for us and that’s how the character concept should be followed with various criteria, not like Strania which has a lack of Opening and Ending animated sequences as well as lack of scripts and voice-acting. How can Eschatos be a retail disc game when the file size is pretty damn small when downloaded from Games On Demand? It should be more like a Xbox Live Arcade game instead even though it contains two additional games.

The storyline takes place in the future beyond our star system and the technology is very futuristic in fiction. One of the keywords is IPv12 which is kind of funny to me like the whole humanity has spread all the way out of our star system to explore the newer systems for similar planets to live on with future technology. Other than the character concept, story concept and gameplay concept, there will be additional stuffs coming in from the developers in the future so stay tuned.
