Blade Strangers

Another crossover kind of fighting game that was recently released this month. It stars the characters from various Nicalis and Studio Saizensen games although I already recognize some of the characters like the one from Umihara Kawase series which is the platformer game with the elastic fishing rod that is the main part of her. It may be the latest entry in All.NET P-Ras Multi service for the arcades but then, the graphical style is already one generation behind the Switch and Playstation 4 as if the game fits right in the arcades and Playstation Vita but then, it's the same story that goes way back to the late 1990s/early 2000s when the 128-Bit consoles were around and yet there were still old-looking games released for them, usually the ones originating in CPS-2 or Neo Geo MVS in the early 2000s for instance. That's because the previous generation consoles were already discontinued like the arcade game developers wouldn't have a choice but to release those games for newer generation consoles which were made current at that time.
Blade Strangers is one fighting game that uses the similar gameplay concept to Super Smash Bros series in which you make one directional input and press one of the four attack buttons to do special moves. There's also the Heat Up feature that increases the character's attack speed while preventing your opponent from interrupting your attacks. Speaking of character casts, the characters mostly originate from other Nicalis or Studio Saizensen games along with the game's original characters. It's basically an indie fighting game with additional requests from Nicalis during the time of game development by Studio Saizensen and it's said to be beginner-friendly. During the fight, you get to see the character cut-in with the character saying something which looks kind of comical.
One cool fact about Nicalis is that it is a game company founded by the one who formerly worked at IGN as the editor. It is a famous company for various games like Cave Story and such in which characters from those games are made playable.
While many of the sites mentioned the release of the game for consoles and PC via Switch, Playstation 4 and Steam, the arcade version was already out this month weeks before the consumer system releases. To commemorate the console and Steam releases, the arcade version was patched to make things on par with them. Not to mention that there were Day-1 patches for those releases as well.
